Selma Bridge Crossing Jubilee 2017
I had the pleasure of attending the Jubilee this year, along with my husband and friends. It was an amazing experience to be able to witness a reenactment of what took place so many decades ago. To be able to be a part of the support of the civil rights movement, was an experience I will never forget. This has opens my eyes to a lot of things that I thought I knew, but it barely hits the surface of the things I should know.
To know that I stood and walked across this bridge was not only overwhelming, but it was very emotional. I was in awe with the amount of people who turned out to participate, as well as the experience of being part of such a momentous occasion. I was so enthused with the experience that I found myself in the middle of the reenactment, as if I were invited to join in front and center. I make it a habit to visit historical places and to read up on my history.
But when you can take part in something that is representing history that is an entirely different story. I have so many pictures that I would like to post, but that would take up to much space and would be very overwhelming to say the least. So I have decided to post a few of the pictures that I felt would be best for this piece.
